Dr. Judith Orloff's book is delightfully written, fun, profound, and profoundly helpful. Few books are so diverse in their approach -- by turns sharing personal stories, providing practical step-by-steps, while being scientific, quizzical, spiritual, sensitive, penetrating, informative -- speaking the soul as well as the mind and body. I and many of my friends have found it invigorating, aiding revelations about the swirl of ourselves and the outside world.
I love the "Emotional Action Steps" that are scattered throughout the book, actions like "5 Cures for Loneliness" and "Spiritual Strategies to Lift Anxiety and Worry". Identifying "Emotional Types" ("The Intellectual", "The Empath", "The Rock", "The Gusher", etc) has become very useful to me since reading this book. It gives me a strategy to attract what's positive and not get blindsided by negative people or situations.
