I would recommend "Confessions of a Compact Camera Shooter" by Rick Sammon for any beginner to compact cameras. I found the info helpful and easy to understand. Although not in any great detail, the info was enough to get any newbie off their feet and into taking great shots.
Rick's pictures are plentiful and show a wide range of pictures to take and ones to avoid. Ample pictures make it easy for anyone to understand what to do and what not to do. He gives advice on how to frame the photo, settings, light, balance, modes and so much more. This book would not be for advanced photographers but most beginners and even intermediates will find it helpful.
The book delves into computer software on how to make a picture better. This is helpful for anyone wanting to know more on taking a picture and turning it into a better one using computer software.
Full of hints i.e. "Always carry a camera" are throughout. Overall, I like this book and find it easy and fun to use.
